I’m very happy and proud to share some snippets from the latest book I worked on. Vidya Bhat (@vidyabhat) from @kinnariinvites and I collaborated on the illustrations for a special Tamil Ramayana children’s book.
This work has been done for [pracharam.in](http://pracharam.in), an NGO looking to engage and elevate children in rural areas by connecting them back to their cultural and spiritual roots. A key part of their work is to publish books such as this Ramayana children’s book that bring out the beauty and depth of Indian scriptures and traditions in a modern, accessible way.
For this Ramayana book, we chose a modified Bengal Patua style of drawings, and worked very closely with the Pracharam team to get the character and scene details exactly right. We iterated a fair bit on character ideations until we found the right balance between approachability for children and realism.
